In the Qiddiya project, Revenant’s technical expertise was crucial in producing a captivating cinematic trailer. We employed Unreal Engine for its ability to quickly produce high-quality 4K content, crucial for the Gaming and Esport District’s depiction. Tools like Niagara and MetaHuman were key in adding realism to our creative vision.
Character animation benefitted greatly from our in-house motion capture suite, capturing detailed movements and allowing precise customization using MetaHuman in Unreal Engine. Our venture into creature animation, creating dragons and a mechanoid robot with intricate keyframe animation, showcased our commitment to technical and artistic excellence.
Craig Simmers, one of our senior 3D artist, shed light on the transformative impact of collaborative working using Perforce. This tool allowed multiple artists to work concurrently on the same level/environment, eliminating the risk of overwriting each other’s work. This collaborative approach was a game changer, especially for shots requiring swift execution. It fostered a workflow where artists could concentrate on their areas of expertise, such as a lighting artist focusing exclusively on lighting, enhancing the efficiency and quality of our work.
Reflecting on Qiddiya, it’s evident that our success stemmed from combining advanced technology with collaborative innovation. This project represents a milestone in our journey to push the limits of cinematic trailers, demonstrating our growth in technical and creative capabilities at Revenant.
