As our MGFX team grows and expands into new territories, we wanted to give you an insight into its talent. Who is behind the scenes, conjuring up our motion graphics magic? This time, meet Christian Oroz Storm. Joining Revenant with TRC’s Reset programme as a Junior Artist, he created incredible work over the 8 month traineeship and is now a Junior Motion Designer with us!
Who or what inspired you to get into the art of MGFX?
At University I studied Digital Media and Interaction Design which allowed me to try multiple types of media, midway through the course we had a motion graphics module where we created a title sequence and I was hooked! After discovering MGFX, I met people who worked in the industry at networking events and everyone I was lucky enough to meet was helpful, inspiring and encouraged me to continue pursuing motion design.
And who/what inspires you now?
There are several studios I have always been influenced by, however, the talented people I have met working at Revenant inspire me the most. As a junior designer, to be surrounded by the hardworking and creative artists we have here is invaluable and I have learnt so much from them.
What would your dream project look like?
Considering what got me into motion design in the first place – it would have to be a title sequence! Other than that, I have always been passionate about sport and I would love to be able to put my motion skills into a project that encourages and promotes fitness. I am also a big fan of abstract motion projects, so combining all those interests would likely be my dream project.
The industry is changing more than ever right now. How do you see MGFX helping to shape the future of animation and VFX?
Motion design is always changing and I think a motion designer’s best quality is their ability to adapt to different forms of media and software. This is what makes the work unique and engaging and is why I think MGFX will continue to be crucial to the making of many art forms and remain the best way to tell a story visually.
Lastly, what’s your favourite project you’ve worked on at Revenant, and why?
It would have to be Yeo’s Journey. It was a great example of how the different skill sets we have at Revenant can be combined to tackle and complete a technically difficult project. The outcome was great and it was incredibly rewarding seeing how all it came together.
